Making copper stacking rings!

Sizing and cutting 16 gauge dead soft copper wire

Wire ends have been filed down flat to fit perfectly together to create a 'seamless' join. Very important to line them up the best you can.. you'll thank yourself  after seeing your perfect seam!
Copper rings before soldering and after soldering and quenching!

Painting copper ring with Flux to prevent firescale before torching! I paint the whole ring just to make sure.

Copper rings and silver earrings in pickling solution.. won't be long now til they're all clean and pretty!

My small soldering setup.. temporary for now, but works just fine! Magnesium block doesn't stay pretty for very long!

Copper ring after sanding excess solder, hammering, polishing and buffing to a shine!

Rings before and after hammering and polishing!

Ready to be sanded!

...and hammered

And voila!! Cute copper stacking rings! Two of the seams broke, but I re-soldered them and they were fine (be careful when hammering or your seams could bust open!)

Shiny and ready to wear!

Stacked!
I also added a tiny sterling ball to one :)

Soldering kit has arrived!

The long awaited arrival of my soldering kit has finally come!! I've waited so, so long for this ;). After countless searching this was the kit I finally went for: Soldering Kit from Seattle Findings
Everything you need to start!
Kit includes: 'Soldering made Simple' by Joe Silvera (awesome book by BTW), mini torch, third hand tweezer and stand set, solder wire in Easy, Medium and Hard, flux paste (to prevent firescale), Sparex pickle solution (also hear you can use Citric Acid.. might try that, no chemicals!), flux brush, solder pick, metal tweezers, copper tweezers for pickle, wire cutters for solder, Magnesium solder block (really soft which can be a plus, but if metal gets too hot it will sink into block and possibly get stuck if you're not careful) and a metal screen with stand for sweat soldering!
Mini torch! This thing is awesome and can get surprisingly hot!

Also received my copper solder kit around the same time! Made some awesome rings with this kit! Got it here: Studio on the Hill
Great prices and decent product.. beware though, copper solder turns silver when melted (could be something i'm doing wrong) and if you hammer it, it becomes very brittle and breaks in small pieces.. but other than that, I do like the shop :)
First time using torch! Making tiny silver studs.. This thing is awesome!
Tiny silver studs and simple silver hoops available in small and medium also available oxidized!
Pickling hoops and studs to remove firescale, doesn't take very long (instructions on pickle jar are for 1 quart.. most people say it doesn't matter the ratio too much when mixing with water. I did 1 tablespoon pickle and 6 tablespoons water.. works just fine :).

After pickling I clean earrings in water and baking soda to stop pickle and hammer earrings to strengthen them!

Indigo Dreamer Designs invited to sell items at Thread in Denver!

Thread of Denver has invited me to sell my shop items in their lovely boutique! So excited.. here's how it all went down!..
Creating my own 'shop ready' display cards!.. had a lot of fun making these! Sending pictures to my sister to get her opinion ;)... now that the cards are finished, it's time to fill them with product!
Shown here in Kraft and galaxy!
Cards are made out of Kraft cardstock with Indigo Dreamer logo printed on sheet, sheet is then cut into sections then stamped with a cute flower, corners are cut with corner punch (on sale!) to create a cool looking pattern and finished with a teeny tiny jewel! Loved making these!! So easy and super cheap!

Aftermath! 'Metal Sampler Packs' made specifically for Thread! Each pack includes 3 different metals so you can pick the best for you! Each pack includes Sterling, Niobium and Titanium!
New earring styles made just for Thread!.. apparently I was really diggin' the blue beads this time around ;)
Each card had a description of the metal used and if it is safe for sensitive ears!

Buddha earrings with crystal green stones!

Crystal cluster necklace.. made two but had to keep one and now I wear it allll the time :)

Handmade necklaces and earring sets!

Lovely Crystal rings attached to handmade cards with indigo colored strings!

More Crystal rings.. love these!

After countless hours.. approximately 2 full non-stop days of jewelry making(!).. I finally have enough product to fill my lovely handmade cards! Pictured: using new Dremel to sand and smooth earring ends.. love this thing!

Dremel! Had to make another appearance of this lovely, lovely tool. Officially cannot live without it. Oh and if you get one, get it with the flex shaft! It's so much easier to handle for longer periods of time and super comfortable to hold! This is the one we got: Dremel 4000 Amazon

On my way to present the finished product... and being weird :B.. oh and our adorable pup Chewie (short for Chewbacca) went too. He's so cute :)
Made a couple orders during the process.. used the new cards!!

Also ran out of purple stuffing so I tried beige.. I think I like it :)
